An Update From The Sequel Makers Development Team

Our Sequel Maker team has been busy the first half of this year collaborating, debating, and defining what the Sequel Maker program will become. Most importantly we have defined it's purpose (why it exists!).
The purpose of Sequel Makers is: Helping Jack's thrive, helping you thrive as a Sequel Maker, and helping each other thrive as Sequel Makers.
Here are some rough, working examples of what that might look like upon rollout:
- Helping Jack's thrive. <— Experienced Jack's members who give back to JCC with their time, energy and dollars. (e.g. Jack-to-Jack Coaching, Facebook b-day fundraisers, Table hosting at fundraising events)
- Helping you thrive as a Sequel Maker. <— Programming and resources to help you be the best version of yourself in this new chapter of your life. (e.g. Sequel Maker Coaches, Sequel Maker Klatches, guest speakers, Sequel Maker Podcast stories, Financial Advisor, Legal Consultants, Mental Health Therapist, healthy living programming or newsletter info)
- Helping each other thrive as Sequel Makers. <— A community that evolves with you as you grow. (e.g. an exclusive Sequel Maker virtual community, Sequel Maker Klatches, Sequel Maker Firepit Fridays, Sequel Maker Thirsty Thursdays, Plus+1 Events, ad hoc gatherings like Casino Nights or Pub Crawls)
We have also defined a "Sequel Maker" as “someone who cared for and lost their loved one after facing a health crisis.”
So, what’s our plan to bring Sequel Makers to life?

First:
Our team wants your help to create this new corner of our broader coalition. Which is why we are holding a kick-off event on National Grief Awareness Day (August 30th) that we’re calling the “Sequel Makers First Pitch Party”. The purpose of this event is to CONNECT and help us CREATE the future of the Sequel Makers COMMUNITY. Come hang out, and even pitch your ideas to help shape Sequel Makers. Welcome to participate are Sequel Makers (male or female) as well as anyone who supports the bereaved in a professional capacity. If you aren't interested or able to attend the event but you have ideas to share with us about how we can best show up for Sequel Makers like you please fill out this simple form and our Sequel Makers Champion Patrick Triemert will reach out to you.
Second:
We are making some changes to our current programming:
- We are adding a “Sequel Makers” label to the profiles of our Jack-to-Jack Coaches who have lost their loved one.
- We are changing the name of our “Living with Loss Klatch” to “Sequel Makers Klatch”. It will continue to be held on the third Wednesday of each month in a private room at the Urban Growler and will function exactly the same way it always has.
- We are having our first “guys only” Sequel Makers event on November 3rd. A Sequel Makers only edition of our popular Firepit Friday event. It will be hosted by Sequel Makers member Aaron Hill in a cabin he recently built on his property in Lake Elmo, MN.
We are excited to be strengthening our coalition and improving the way we show up for what can be the most challenging phase of any caregiving journey. With your engagement, encouragement, and support we know we will succeed.
