Goal:
Make 40 more caregiver support stories possible by raising $30,000! We'll share a toast and the stories of caregivers toiling away for months and years in the shadows of their caregetters. We believe every caregiver we are honored to serve has a compelling story and we are honored that our honorees for this campaign are allowing us to share their stories with you.

Joe Peterson is a husband and primary caregiver to Jessica, a father to Jack and Abby, and alpha to their adorable and slightly territorial dog Ivy. A director of human services, in his spare time he’s a Yoda level BBQ pit master with 13 grills who enjoys nurturing the world with his creations and sharing his wisdom with aspiring BBQ pit grasshoppers. His wife Jessica overcame stage 3C breast cancer in 2012. In January 2020 she was diagnosed with stage 4 when a tooth ache turned out to be metastatic breast cancer in her mouth and spine. Their lives have been a whirlwind ever since seeking out medical and natural treatments throughout the US/Mexico. Jessica is the most driven person he knows and has dedicated every waking moment to healing her body. Joe has been her rock and developed into quite the astonishing person himself.

Allan Hammell and his wife Hilary have two kids, ages 7 and 8. In April 2021, Hilary was concerned with some swollen lymph nodes along her collar bone. Many tests ensued with the outcome of a diagnosis of stage 4 neuroendocrine lung cancer. Most cancer patients get a diagnosis and begin a treatment plan fairly quickly. For Hilary it took almost 6 weeks because the hers was a rare presentation of a rare cancer. During that time her health was declining quickly and emotionally it was hard as it felt like each subsequent test results in finding another cancer site and the need for more tests. Hilary's cancer has a specific mutation that has a targeted drug and it has so far had a good response and her health has shown some improvements. Click here to read a blog we published featuring Allan Hammell!

A natural planner he recently created a gantt chart to help his family navigate their move to a new home. After seeing the Jack’s Caregiver Coalition booth at the second cancer conference in a row he decided to check it out. Not long later he joined Jack’s for a brewery tour and he’s been an active member of the coalition ever since.
